Mourning, Moving, and Accompaniment, An Empathy/Movement workshop

 — (EDT, UTC-04) — (EDT, UTC-04)

Reimagine Grief, Growth, and Justice

Over 4 weeks, Mourning, Moving and Accompaniment provides a space for honoring grief in community. When we are accompanied in our grief, we can become more present to ourselves and others. Resonant empathy, rooted in the principles of Non-Violent Communication an coupled with creative movement, invites us to compassionately connect with our experiences. The result is a way to meet ourselves with warmth and curiosity, tapping into expression that is authentic, unfiltered, heart-centered. This kind of loosely structured, creative movement can bring us from our heads into our bodies, and toward a deeper level of self-connection and healing.

The workshop takes place on 4 Sundays - April 3, April 10, April 24, May 2 (no gathering on April 17), @ 12 noon Eastern. Over the workshop series, we’ll explore mourning related to (and not limited to): the loss of loved ones, the loss of dreams, transgenerational grief, and acknowledging systemic harm. Attendance at all 4 is encouraged.

Note: All movement can be done seated, and all movement invitations are optional; all forms of creative expression and embodiment, including stillness, is welcome.

Embodying Self-Forgiveness, in Words and Movement

 —  —

Reimagine Grief, Growth, and Action

Forgiveness is often talked about as something we “should” do – especially forgiving ourselves. But what does it actually mean, and how does it live in the body?

This is a 2-session workshop that will focus on forgiveness in multiple dimensions - asking forgiveness, being asked to forgive, self-forgiveness, how forgiveness lives in a world in which there is much complicity in collective harm. Through resonant movement and warmhearted conversation, this experiential workshop unpacks forgiveness and the many feelings and sensations that may swirl around this potentially complicated experience.

All movement invitations are optional. Whatever range of motion and mode of expression-including meditation/stillness - feels authentic and comfortable for you is welcome.

You are welcome to attend either or both workshops:

Session 1 - 11.6 - Forgiveness toward and from others, in Words and Movement Session 2 - 11.7 - Self-forgiveness, in Words and Movement

Please reach out to connect@sashasoreffdance.com if your attendance is best supported with a full scholarship.

Cultivating Playfulness and Creativity

 —  —

Reimagine

In times of stress, a sense of playfulness can be quick to disappear and slow to return without intentional cultivation. For some of us, acting playfully was subtly (or not) discouraged, and can be hard to come by organically.

In this space of creative expression, and empathic listening, rooted in the principles of Non-Violent Communication, we can reconnect with the playful parts of ourselves.

Choreographer and Transformational Facilitator Sasha Soreff, offers a gentle warm up, discussion and guided (optional) movement exploration. Whatever range of motion and mode of expression feels authentic and comfortable for you is welcome.

Flowing through Grief and Joy, in Words and Movement

 —  —

The Resonance Summit

This experiential workshop is an invitation to give voice and movement to that which your heart carries. There is much to mourn, and it can be hard to get in touch with our grief – and our joy – alone. In this space of empathic listening and embodied self-expression, we can find comfort, understanding, new insights, and ultimately, healing. After a gentle warm-up, we’ll learn basic movement generation tools, and explore that which we celebrate and mourn, individually and collectively. All movement invitations are optional. Whatever range of motion and mode of expression feels authentic and comfortable for you is welcome.
